In the 2011-2012 academic year, the Discipline of French Language and Literature initiated their undergraduate programmes. The purpose of our department is to educate students about the Western languages, literatures and cultures in addition to activating their oral and written language skills and training them as qualified researchers in the target areas. To realize this purpose, the Department offers a rich programme including language and literature courses and also courses related to the European Culture, Social Cultural Anthropology, History of Philosophy, Feminism and Literature, and Comparative Literature. Students whose language skills are insufficient are obliged to attend the prep class at first.

The students who graduate from our department work in various fields such as tourism, banking, Turkish Broadcasting Company and private broadcasting companies, translation offices, ministries, and publishing houses. They have the option of working as an instructor or a teacher after taking pedagogy courses.
