Profile of the Programme
Department of Statistics was founded in 1982. Aim of the department is to train qualified research who can analyze and interpret the data obtained by using modern technology.Department of Statistics consists of divisions which are Statistical Theory, Applied Statistics, Operations Research, Probability Theory and Probability Process, Statistical Information Systems and Risk Analysis. There are 26 tenured/tenure-track faculties in the department with research interests in several subfields of statistics. The graduate program leads to a Master of Science, Doctorate. The undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Statistics. In addition to the theoretical and practical courses also computer programming classes are given in the department. Students who have graduated from the Department of Statistics can be employed in universities, banking and insurance sectors, research companies, quality control departments of industrial companies, and many public institutions.
