Have the basic knowledge of art history.
Have the basic knowledge of arts from different geography,the ability to have comments on art works.

 --COURSE CONTENT
1. Week  Introduction to the course, basic concepts;
2. Week  Appearance of Byzantine Art in Turkey, it’s geographical and historical evolution and introduction of periods;
3. Week  İnformations about Early Byzantine Period. İntroducing some of the historical buildings in İstanbul.
4. Week  İntroducing the samples of Byzantine painting art in Turkey(mosaic,fresco and miniature).
5. Week  Presentation of the Churh Haghia Sophia in İstanbul.
6. Week  İntroducing the basilicas from early period in İstanbul,the churches Saints Sergius and Bacchus, Saint İoannes Prodromos.
7. Week  İnformations about Middle Byzantine Period. Give basic knowledge about iconography and its subjects.

9. Week  İntroducing the historical places in Cappadocia I
10. Week  İntroducing the historical places in Cappadocia II
11. Week  İnformations about Late Byzantine Period. Explains architectural features and iconography of Khora(Kariye) Church.
12. Week  İntroducing the historical buildings from Byzantine Period which are important from tourism point of view I
