Ability to define mechanical springs and their types. Analyse and design coil springs under various loads
Understanding of ball-bearings, classify them, analyse static and dynamic bearing loads and select suitable bearing from catalogues
Understanding of lubrication and friction. Define journal bearings and types. Design journal bearings
Ability to define gear, gear types and gear nomenclature. Calculate gear ratio and speed. Analyse gear forces. Design of spur, helical, bevel and worm
Ability to understand clutches, brakes, couplings and flywheels. Analyse moment transmission and strength
Gain knowledge about flexible mechanical elements (belts, chains, robs and flexible shafts). Ability to do belt-drive, chain and rope calculations, se
