After taking and succeeding this course, students; can recognize the concepts of modeling and simulation,
understand the need for simulation,
able to model basic electrical circuits mathematically,
recognize the basic components of a power system,
create the mathematical model and electrical equivalent circuit of a power system,
create simulation models of power systems by using software such as MATLAB, DigSilent and so on,
able to achieve the necessary analysis and make comments on simulations.

  The mode of delivery of this course is Face to face

1. Week  Necessity for modeling and simulation, up to date simulation software.
2. Week  Modeling and simulation of basic electrical circuits and elements.
3. Week  Equivalent circuit and modeling of synchronous generators (SG).
4. Week  Equivalent circuit and modeling of power transformers.
5. Week  Transmission line types, short, medium and long line models, basic equations, line modeling and analysis.
6. Week  Load representation in power systems, load models, effect of load characteristics on power system.
7. Week  Modeling and simulation of renewable energy sources: Photovoltaic systems
8. Week  Wind energy systems, Midterm exam
9. Week  Reactive power compensation in transmission lines.
10. Week  Modeling and simulation of compensation systems.
11. Week  Voltage and frequency stability.
