Description of polysaccharides and their medical uses will be learned.
Students will learn about the medical products, herbal and zoic sources of polysaccharides and their derivatives.
Current uses of polysaccharides and their preparations in the market will be introduced.

1. Week  Introduction and classification of polysaccharides
2. Week  Polisaccharides from herbs, animals, marine and bacterial origins and their derivatives
3. Week  Hydrocolloids, their uses in medical and other industries
4. Week  Marine polysaccharides and their uses (a. Crustacea originated: Chitin, Chitosan, Glucosamine)
5. Week  Marine polysaccharides and their uses (b. Microalgea and seaweed originated: Agar, Alginate, Ulvan, Fucoidan vb.)
6. Week  Other uses of marine polysaccharides: drug carrier systems, wound healing, tissue engineering
7. Week  Industrial gums and their medical uses
8. Week  Using polysaccharides as prebiotics, sweeteners, immunogenicity and production of vaccines
9. Week   Anticoagulant fucan sulphates, Polysaccharides as supports for antiviral ve antitumoral drugs
10. Week  Immunomodulator polysaccharides (Corydyceps, Echinacea, Ganoderma, Sources of Beta Glucan)
