The student knows psychological bases of people’s attitudes and behaviour within the built environment;qualified for surveying and research.
She/he knows decision-making methods and databases in environmental psychology related planning and urban design issues and is able to apply them.
The student is able to choose proper methods for investigation and evaluation and utilize their results in a project.

1. Week  Introduction: definition of basic terms; historical roots and relations with other disciplines;definition of fields of environmental psychology.
2. Week  Research areas and research methods in environmental psychology, theorical models and applied examples: case studies.
3. Week  Methodological issues; structural and dynamic properties of behaviour and behavioural settings;disability,ageing and barrier -free spaces.
4. Week  Environmental perception;Characteristics of the perception of the environment; description and evaluation; cognitive maps; social interaction.
5. Week  Space-place relations:notion of a place;personal space, territoriality, privacy,;crowding;environmental stress sources; accessible places.
6. Week  Neighbourhoods and the city; socio-spatial forms; integration- separation-fragmentation; city image and identity analysis.

9. Week  Orientation in the environment; Sensual qualities and their influence: light and colours-dark-sound and noise- temperature-smell and odour.
10. Week  Quality of life as a reason for environmental changes;pollution; Pollution effects in relation to sustainable built environment.
11. Week  Built environmental quality- environmental psychology relations analysis; identifying environment -friendly and environment-harmful behaviours.
