Explains the main concepts related to mental health
Lists the main criteria of mental health
Explains the basic theories of mental health
Describes the characteristics of mentally healthy and unhealthy individuals.
Lists protective factors for child mental health.
Explains the importance of mother in terms of child mental health.
Discusses the factors that cause emotional and behavioral problems.
Discusses the impacts of private familial conditions (divorce, step mother/father, parent'a death, etc.) on child's mental health.
Discusses the role of developmental situations (fear, separation anxiety, and school fobia) in early childhood on child mental health.
Follows new approaches and trends in early childhood mental health.

1. Week  Introduction to the course content and general expectations related to the course.Basic concepts related to mental health.
2. Week  Historical development of mental health, criteria of mental health.
3. Week  Theories on mental health, development periods.
4. Week  Factors that affect mental health, protective factors for child's mental health.
5. Week  The importance of mother in terms of child's mental health
6. Week  The role of private familial conditions ( divorce, step mother/father, parent's death etc.) on child's mental health.
7. Week  Child abuse and neglect, violence and aggression
8. Week  Midterm
9. Week  Problems encountered during childhood: enuresis, encompresis, nail biting
10. Week  Problems encountered during childhood: mutizm, communication problems, stuttering
11. Week  Problems encountered during childhood: Eating disorders sleep disorders, tic disorders
12. Week  Developmental situations encountered during childhood: Fear, separation anxiety, school fobia, stealing, lyingjealousy, stubborness
13. Week  Problems encountered during childhood: ADHD
14. Week  Problems encountered during childhood: Severe pediatric mental disorders, general evaluation.
