Programme Information

Gazi University is a state university and its history dates back to 1920s. Right after the declaration of the Turkish Republic, ''Gazi Teacher Training School'' was established in 1926 by the directive of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and served under his name for many years. In 1976, it became ''Gazi Institute of Education'', which was converted to Gazi University in 1982.

Under the roof of this new University, Gazi Faculty of Education (which was known as Gazi Institute of Education), Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (which was known as Ankara Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences), Faculty of Medicine, Faculties of Dentistry and Pharmacology (which were known as Schools of Dentistry and Pharmacology and Faculty of Communications (previously known as Schools of Journalism and Public Relations) and Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (previously known as Ankara State Academy of Engineering and Architecture) were brought together. Since 1982 Gazi University has been leading the education, training and research activities to provide high quality human resource in global terms.

Today, Gazi University, with its 21 faculties, 5 schools, 11 vocational schools, 7 institutes, 1 conservatory and 5 departments under rectorial office carry out research and education activities as one of the biggest university in Turkey. Total undergraduate and graduate student enrollment of Gazi University has reached approximately 61469 in 2012-2013.

Healthcare Management Department is one of the 9 departments in Gazi University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences such as Healthcare Management Department, Business Management, Economics, Public Finance, Econometrics, International Relations, Public Administration, International Trade, Labour Economics and Industrial Relations. Total enrollment in Faculty is 9668. 

Though education in post graduate level (master and doctoral) has a long history, under graduate education in Healthcare Management Department is very new. Department has received its first under graduate students in 2013-2014 and it is on upper levels in OSYM scores and ranking. Total number of enrolled students is 55 and aim of the program is to train all levels of managers needed by the health system. 

Institute of Social Sciences receives 10-15 students every year for Postgraduate programs on Hospital Management and Management of Health Institutions. Postgraduate program on Hospital Management was established in 1995 and 61 students have graduated since 2006 up today. Current number of students is 89.

Postgraduate program on Management of Health Institutions began to receive students since 2005, 4 students have graduated since 2006. Current number of students is 49. Graduated students are working as different level managers in hospitals of Ministry of Health, in private hospitals; in headquarter offices of Ministry, as experts and inspectors in Social Security Institution and as academicals in universities.
