Recognize the testing conditions of textile labrotories
Comprehend the principles of fiber, yarn and fabric physical quality tests
Comprehend the principles of the testing equipments used for measuring the physical properties of fiber, yarn and fabrics.
Evaluate the test results.
Evaluate the problems and faults affecting the quality of fibers,yarns and fabrics.
Express the effects of the physical properties of fiber, yarn and fabric on each other

1. Week  The concept of quality in textile industry, effects of laboratory conditions on test results.
2. Week  Effects of fiber length on yarn and fabric properties, the methods of fiber length measurement.
3. Week  Effects of fiber fineness on yarn and fabric properties, the methods of fiber fineness measurement.
4. Week  Effects of fiber strength on yarn and fabric properties, the methods of fiber strength measurement.
5. Week  Effects of foreign materials in fiber on yarn and fabric properties, amount of foreign materials measurement methods.
6. Week  Lineer density systems and lineer density of yarns, Yarn twist and measurements methods.
7. Week  1st Project presentation
8. Week   Yarn strenth measurement methods, Effects of yarn unevenness on yarn quality and test methods.
9. Week  Constructional testing of fabrics: Measurement of warp and weft densities of fabric.
10. Week  Constructional testing of fabrics: Measurement of grammage and thickness of fabrics.
11. Week  Performance testing of fabrics: Measurement of breaking and tearing strength of fabrics
12. Week  Performance testing of fabrics: Measurement of pilling and abrasion properties of fabrics
13. Week  Performance testing of fabrics: Measurement of bursting strength and air permeability properties of fabrics
14. Week  Performance testing of fabrics: Measurement of bending rigidity and sewing strength properties of fabrics
