Have knowledge about the basic elements of Âşık music and have information about regional differences of âşık music.
Assess the level of style and dialect differences between regions the musical point of view.
Have knowledge about the style of the compositions of various âşık music.

 --COURSE CONTENT
1. Week  Definition of the âşık in Turkish folk music. Meanings of the concepts in the literature and disclosure of a variety of examples of âşık performances.
2. Week  Technical explanations regarding âşık tradition: âşık music, bâde and drinking bâde, master-apprentice relationship in âşık tradition.
3. Week  The basic elements of local âşık music and reflections on these items.
4. Week  The basic elements of âşık music: dialect. Explanation of the various local dialects in âşık musical examples.
5. Week  The basic elements of âşık music: instrumental style. Explanation of the various local instrumental âşık style in musical examples.
6. Week  Typographic elements, melodious features, rhythmic features, morphological properties in âşık music.
7. Week  Geographical features, historical events and social conditions of the region reflections form the âşık performing style.
