Brake systems and basic principles are learned.
Factors affecting brake performance and actual braking forces are learned.
Brake system design criteria are learned.

6. Week	Sizing of friction elements and basic calculations, analysis of finite element analysis
7. Week	Retarders and design criteria
8. Week	Performance and design criteria in hydraulic and air brake systems
9. Week	Failure analysis of brake systems and investigation of efficiency losses
10. Week	Electronically controlled brake systems and their effects on vehicle movement (ABS, EBD)
11. Week	Performance of towing and trailer braking systems in commercial vehicles
