To learn the representation and characterization of digital communication signals and systems.
To understand the optimum receiver structures for AWGN channels and to do performance analysis of different modulation techniques with these receivers
To learn carrier ans symbol synchronization techniques.
To understand and apply the signal design and equalization techiques over bandlimited linear filter channels

1. Week  Introduction to digital communication systems. Fundamentals of probability, random variables and random processes
2. Week  Representation of digitally-modulated signals, spectral characteristics of digitally-modulated signals.
3. Week  Optimum receiver for AWGN channels.
4. Week  Performance of optimum receiver for AWGN channels with different modulation techniques.
5. Week  Performance of optimum receiver for AWGN channels with different modulation techniques. Optimum receiver for CPM signals.
6. Week  Optimum receiver for random pahse signals in AWGN channel, repeaters and link budget analysis.
7. Week  Carrier and symbol synchronization.

9. Week  Error rate of PAM, modulation codes for spectral shaping
