Students learn what the visual anthropology is and its relationship between folklore.
Students learn information about visual ethnography and folklore.
Students gain historical knowledge on photography and film.
Students learn about the usage of photographs in the folkloric researches.
Students learn about specialty in documentary photography.
Students learn how to read photography.
Students learn about documentary movies and its types.

2. Week  Visual ethnography is an important part of folkloric methodology.
3. Week  Early history of photograpy and film in folklore studies
4. Week  Multi-dimensional usage of photography in folklore research
5. Week  On Photography: Photographic representation and documentary
6. Week  Photographic studies, reading and discussing photography
7. Week  Readings and discussions on the basis of photography
8. Week  On Film: Evolution of documentary cinema and types of documentary
9. Week  History of Ethnographic Film/important methods and films
10. Week  Assessment of ethnographic films made by R. Flaherty & J. Rouch
