Learning the oxygen toxicity, sources and targets of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, free radical-related diseases.

  The mode of delivery of this course is face to face.
 --WEEKLY SCHEDULE
1. Week  Oxygen toxicity in aerobes, causes the toxic effects of oxygen and affecting factors
2. Week  Reactive oxygen species; singlet oxygen, hydroxyl radical, superoxide radical, hydrogen peroxide, ozone
3. Week  Reactive nitrogen species; nitrates, nitrites and nitric oxide
4. Week  Cellular sources of free radicals, free radicals generating by enzymatic chemical reactions
5. Week  Other sources of free radicals, ionizing radiation, some drugs, air pollutants
6. Week  Specific biological targets:DNA.
7. Week  Specific biological targets: Proteins and lipids
8. Week  Damage to membranes, mechanism and products of lipid peroxidation
9. Week  Mechanism of damage to cellular targets by oxidative stress
10. Week  Detection and measurement of oxidative stress markers in biological sistems
11. Week  Reactive oxygen species/reactive nitrogen species and carcinogenesis, changes in antioxidant defences in cancer
