Learns the general structures, classifications and chemical reactions of carbohydrates and their derivatives.
Learns analytical methods for determination of macromolecular structure.
Learns the structure, synthesis and biological functions of proteoglycans, lectins and glycosaminoglycans.
Learns the structure and synthesis of glycolipids.
Learns the usage and technological applications of synthetic polysaccharide derivatives.

5. Week  Monosaccharides; acidic sugars, sugar alcohols, aminosugars, deoxysugars, nitro and thiosugars
6. Week  Oligosaccharides; semi-synthetic oligosaccharides, naturally occurring oligosaccharides
7. Week  Polysaccharides; plant polysaccharides, algal and microbial polysaccharides, animal polysaccharides
8. Week  Glycoproteins and proteoglycans; hormonal, serum and plasma glycoproteins, immunoglobulins
9. Week  Lectins, proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans and their biological function
10. Week  Glycolipids; animal, plant, algal and microbial glycolipids
