Learning of species and ecosystem diversity in Turkey and the factors influencing them.
To learn the negative effects of human activities on species diversity and ecosystems

1. Week  The development of life on earth. The concept of “biodiversity”and “species”
2. Week  The principles of the classification of living things; systematic and taxonomy.
3. Week  Genetic diversity, species diversity, ecosystem diversity. Species interactions.
4. Week  Causes and consequences of species extinctions. Threats to biodiversity. The effects of pesticides and chemical agents on biodiversity.
5. Week  Biogeography and the biodiversity of the Turkey.
6. Week  Global climate change and the future of species.
7. Week  Diversity of the Turkey’s flora and fauna. Some examples of endemic species, endangered species and habitats from Turkey.
8. Week  MIDTERM EXAM
9. Week  IUCN Red List Cathegories and situation analysis of some endangered species in Turkey.
10. Week  National concervation areas, law and regulations.
11. Week  Concervation studies in Turkey: Ex-situ and in-situ case studies.
12. Week  Important Nature Areas, Important Bird Areas, Important Plant Areas, Zero Extinction, Hotspots in Turkey.
