 --COURSE CONTENT
1. Week  Development of the democracy and the constitutional governmet. Historical - conceptual framework.
2. Week  Constitutions of the capitalist, fascist and socialist states.
3. Week  The concepts of constitution and democtacy in the Turkish history of thought.
4. Week  1808 Bill of Alliance and 1839 Tanzimat Firman: Their places in the Turkish history of constitution and democracy.
5. Week  New Ottomans and the 1876 Constitution.
6. Week  Jeunne Turks, Union and Progress and Second Constitutional regime of 1908.
7. Week  Constitutional and democratic developments during the Turkish War of Independence. 1921 Constitution.
8. Week  Mid-term exam.
9. Week  Republican regime with one-party system: 1923-1946. (1924 Constitution)
10. Week  Democratic experience with the multi-party system.
11. Week  1960 military coup and 1961 Constitution. Era of the democratic freedoms. 1960's.
12. Week  Turkey's getting into the orbit of global capitalism and the social pains lived in this period. 1971 and 1980 military coups and the 1970's.
13. Week  Constitutional rights and democracy in Turkey restructured by the 1980 coup. 1982 Constitution and the 1980's.
14. Week  Settling of the religious society and politics and the place of induvidual rights within. 1990's and 2000's.
15. Week  The critique of the democratic discourse. Turkish example.
16. Week  Final exam.
