Understanding the concept of world music as cultural and geographical.
Identifying and recognizing traditional musical performance of India, China and Arabia.
By recognizing and identifying the world music to make an unbiased comparison with Turkish traditional music.

 --COURSE CONTENT
1. Week  The meaning of world music, traditional music, classical music and other concepts associated with the topic in the literature.
2. Week  Music and Culture relationship. Musical identity. Examples of music from the world and Turkey regarding the issue.
3. Week  The basic elements of South India (Carnatic Music) classical music, traditional teaching methods, vocal types.
4. Week  The basic elements of South India (Carnatic Music) folk music, traditional teaching methods, vocal types and the main instruments for folk music.
5. Week  The basic elements of North India (Hindustani Music) classical music, traditional teaching methods, vocal types and the main instruments.
6. Week  The basic elements of North India (Hindustani Music) folk music, traditional teaching methods, vocal types and the main instrument for folk music.
7. Week  Raga and Tala in Indian Music.
8. Week  Mid-Term Exam
9. Week  History of China Dynasty and music. Traditional musical data samples.
10. Week  Chinese traditional instruments. Traditional musical data samples.
11. Week  Chinese Opera and vocal music styles. Traditional musical data samples.
12. Week  The important features of Arabic music; Important philosophers-musicologists that marked the history of Arabic music, Arabic music education system.
13. Week  The important subjects of Arabic music; Arab music performers, performance environments, traditional instruments.Musical data samples.
14. Week  Arabic music period that began to influence Turkey and reasons of the affected periods. Musical data samples and comparative practice.
