To get informed about 16th-20th century. To be able to transcribe Anatolia area poet biographies into Latin alphabet.
To be knowledgeable about Anatolian poet biographies, their form and content features.
To be familiar with biography knowledge of Ottoman tradition.

 --COURSE CONTENT
1. Week  “Biographical books” and “poet biographies” concepts.
2. Week  Biographical books in the Arabian and Persian literature and in the field of Chagatai.
3. Week  In general, Anatolian poet biographical books and form and content features of the Sehi Bey’s biographical book, 'Heşt Behişt'
4. Week  Features of content and form of the biographical books called Latifî-Tezkire-i Şuarâ, Ahdi- Gülşen-i Şuarâ. Reading sample texts from these books.
5. Week  Reading an example text of Meşairü’ş-şuarâ by Âşık Çelebi-and commenting on it.
6. Week  The form and content features of Hasan Çelebi’s Tezkiretü’ş-şuara and Beyani’s Tezkire-i Şuara. Reading samples and commenting on this book.
7. Week  The form and content features of the biographical book Gelibolulu Ali-Künhü’l-ahbar.
8. Week   Midterm Exam
9. Week  In general, the 17th century biographical books and form&content features of Riyazî, Rıza, Kafzade Faizî. Reading samples and commenting on them.
10. Week  The form and content features of Güfti, Asım and Yümni biographical books. Reading samples and commenting on them.
11. Week  In general, the 18th century biographical books and form&content features of Safayî, Salim and Ramiz. Reading examples of them and commenting on them.
12. Week  The form and content features of Esrar Dede, Mucib, Beliğ, Silahdarzade, Safvet and Akif. Reading samples and commenting on them.
13. Week  In general, the 19th century biographical books and form&content features of Şefkat, Esad, Arif Hikmet, Fatin, Tevfik, Mehmet Tevfik.

1To get aware of the principals of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and get to know revololutionary history of modern republic of Turkey.
2To get familiar with the use of computer technology upon language teaching and linguistical studies, and to get compotent among this subject.
3To get compotent on foreign languages. To be able to follow current studies about Turkish language and literature, to contact with foreign colleagues and to share knowledge with one another.X
4To learn Turkish with respect to speaking and writing properly.X
5To learn grammatical traits of classical Turkish literature. And the script which is used in those works related to it.X
6To apprehend linguistical features, alphabets and lexicon of old written languages of Turkic. To be competent to read the texts written in those languages and transcribe any of them, in addition analysing them linguistically.X

9To learn the periods of modern Turkish literature, their peculiarlities, literary movements, figures and works and to apprehend them through the method and theories of literature.

11To read the basic works of anonymous or sufi literature and to interpret them in terms of ideological movements. Depending on the recent knowledge, to be able about formal features of the literature. To learn how to assess this competence in light of historical, cultural materials and contemporary theories and methods.
12To learn Turkish grammar comparatively in terms of phonology, morphology, syntax, semantic and lexicon through the methods of linguistics.X
