1. Week  Introduction: Basic definitions, classification, synthesis of polymers, nomenclature. Thermal transitions in polymers, Tg, Tm, thermosetting and therm
2. Week  Step-Growth Polymerization: general reactions, Carothers equation, control of the molar mass, kinetics, molar mass distribution, average molar masses.
3. Week  Characteristics of step-growth polymerization, typical reactions, ring opening and non-linear step-growth polymerizations.
4. Week  Some experimental reactions, polyurethanes, thermosetting polymers.
5. Week  Free radical addition polymerization: initiators and initiation reactions, chain growth, termination, kinetics.
6. Week  Chain transfers, inhibitors and retarders, determination of polymerization rate constants, activation energies and the effect of temperature.
7. Week  Thermodynamics of free radical polymerization, heats of polymerization, polymerization processes, features of free radical polymerization.
