Students attending this course learn engine working principles, cycles, parts, systems and their functions.
Students disassemble of engine parts, measures and check the engine parts, assembly, adjust, and run engine.
Students prepare overhaul report.
Students solve the problems about thermodynamic cycles.

1. Week  Engines, History of engines and motor vehicles, classifications of engines, Units, basic concepts about engines and definitions
2. Week  Working principles of engines and cycles, ideal gas laws
3. Week  Analysis of Otto, Diesel and Dual cycle, work, power and efficiency, basic cycle calculations
4. Week  Indicator diagrams, Valve timing diagrams
5. Week  Engine parts, functions, materials
6. Week  Dismantling and examination of engine parts
7. Week  Usage of vehicle handbook and catalogues
8. Week  Measuring devices and usage principles, measuring and control of engine parts
9. Week  Mid term exam
10. Week  Preparation and evaluation of engine overhaul reports
11. Week  Lubrication systems and elements, changing of oil and oil filter, lubrication oils
12. Week  Cooling systems and functions, air and liquid cooling systems
13. Week  Introduction of fuel and ignition systems
14. Week  Variable valve timing and basic engine management
15. Week  Assembly of engine parts and adjusting (ignition timing, valve timing, advance etc.)
