The students learn about the field of theories that it is site of meeting the different disciplines.

1. Week   The object of this course. Importance of theory,methodology and epistemology.
2. Week   Old theories or first communication models/effects studies in U.S.A
3. Week   The studies, and effects of researchers coming from traditions of natural science, social science, humanities science...
4. Week   The effects of positivist's search on first model of communications.
5. Week   The positivist researchers prefers emprical research on the model of the physical sicences, trust guantitative methods...
6. Week   The effects of empiricist behaviourist tradition in the media and communication studies.
7. Week   The introduction of behaviourism into media research. Four kind of media effects indentified by Katz and Lazarfeld.
8. Week  midterm exam
9. Week   Lazarfeld refined survey methods, hypothesis testing in communication studies.
10. Week   Harold Laswell's contributions to the field of communication and critics on his approach.
