To learn the concepts of "moral", "ethics", "duty", "responsibility", "mass communication ethics", "deontology" and to be able to put them
To learn the benefits and inconveniences of self-regulation and controlling on mass-media.
To learn the principles of each mass-media.
To learn social responsibility of mass media and journalists.
To learn and examine moral values of mass communication and put them into practice.




 -- MODE OF DELIVERY
  The mode of delivery of this course is face to face and also the subjects are supported with case studies by the lecturer and students.

  There is no prerequisite or co-requisite for this course.

 --COURSE CONTENT
1. Week  The subjects of the course of Communication Ethics: "moral", "ethics", "duty", "responsibility", "mass communication ethics", "deontology"
2. Week  The sorts and thoughts of moral, and historical background.
3. Week  Ethics in mass communication.
4. Week  Self-regulation and auto-control in mass media.
5. Week  Self-regulation and auto-contol institutions in printed press and broudcasting.
6. Week  Liability understandings and thoughts at press and broudcasting, and particularly Social Responsibility Theory.
7. Week  The regulation of media ethics in the World and Turkey, and ethical identity of a journalists. Rules laid down by the FCC.
8. Week  Turkish Press Council, and Code of Professional Principles of the Press
9. Week  Ethical rules in Turkish legislation.
10. Week  Ethical rules in Turkish legislation. (Constitution and other Acts, such as act numbers 5187, 5224, 2954, 5651, 6112)
11. Week  Ombudsman in mass-media.
12. Week  Case study on printed press
