Develop an understanding of how social divisions are formed in a social structure.
Think critically about social class, gender, ethnicity, and religious divisions within civil society.
Analyze how the interaction of social and economic factors effect power structures within civil society.
Evaluate the limits of the state's power with respect to the processes of globalization and rise of neoliberalism.
Analyze the limits of the state's power with respect to the emergence of new social movements.

 --COURSE CONTENT
1. Week  It will be given a short introduction to political sociology.The goal of that lecture is to give the students a sense of what kind of course to be.
2. Week  It will be adressed Marxist, Weberian, and Durkheimian traditions of political sociology in that week’s lecture.
3. Week  The topic of that week’s lecture is types of political system.
4. Week  The main goal of that week’s lecture is to discuss why liberal democracy is in a crisis
5. Week  It will be explained the role of political parties and election in the crisis of democracy.
6. Week  It will be analysed the functionality of political change and conflict in types of political system.
7. Week  The topic of that week’s lecture is global politics in the 20th century.
8. Week  Midterm
9. Week  The aim of that week’s lecture is to try to explain the relation among social movements, political parties, and political action.
10. Week  It will be summarized the premises of new social movements of liberal and marxist viewpoints in that week’s lecture.
11. Week  It will be explained the concept of violence and types of violence.
12. Week  the aim of that week’s lecture is to try to explain the meaning of citizenship.
13. Week  It will be addressed the relation between citizenship and social class.
14. Week  It will be addressed the relation among citizenship, gender and ethnicity and also it will be explained how gender and ethnicity can be political.
15. Week  The topic of that week’s lecture is the new concept of politics.
16. Week  Finally, it will be summarized the topics which have been explained during the lectures.
