The students make thermodynamic explanation behavior  of solution.
Makes comments about phase diagrams of pure substances.
Explains the physical properties of liquids and the factors that affect these properties.
Draws the phase diagrams of one-, two-and three-component systems and make comments about them.
Compares ideal and real solutions and distinguish the difference between them.
Associates colligative properties and liquids' physical properties topics with daily life.
Makes calculations about colligative properties and interprets the obtained results.

 --COURSE CONTENT
1. Week  Phase diagrams of pure compounds ( P‐V and P‐T ) : Critical point, boiling point, melting  point and triple point
2. Week  Physical properties of solids: surface tension, capillary effect, nucleation , wetting and  non‐ wetting liquids 
3. Week  Solutions: Partial molar quantities
4. Week  Gibbs – Duhem equation  , determination of partial  molar quantities, chemical potential    
5. Week  Thermodynamics of mixing : Mixing Free energy, volume, enthalpy and entropy  changes in mixing
6. Week  Colligative properties  : Elevation of boiling point or ebullioscopy
7. Week  Depression of melting point or cryoscopy; osmosis    
8. Week  Ideal Solutions:Henry Raoult and Dalton law 
9. Week  Real Solutions  :Activity and fugacity concepts ,  positive and negative deviations from the Raoult law ,excess functions     
10. Week  Phases, components and degree of freedom:Gibbs'phase law
11. Week  Two component systems: The analysis of the phase diagrams of the compounds which deviates slightly from the Raoult law
12. Week  Partially immiscible liquids : Solution which give upper or lower critical solution points  or the both  
13. Week  Thermal analysis : Cooling curves , transition to the phase diagrams from the cooling  curves , the systems which give eutectic , distectic or perite
