Students know definition of visual art and concepts related to visual art.
Students explains the characteristics of artistic approaches.
Students know the importance of visual arts education in early childhood
Students explain the development of visual perception in children
Students identify the elements of the aesthetic elements
Students list the steps of art criticism
Students analyze the works of artists
Students explain museum education
Students compares characteristics of the children’ drawings based on the developmental stages.
Students give examples of points to consider when planning, implementing and evaluating art activities for preschool children

1. Week  Definition, function and aims of the art and visual arts, history of art education.
2. Week  The importance of art education in early childhood, visual perception development of children
3. Week  Art approaches and artistic styles
4. Week  Elements of art, aesthetics, art criticism, analyzing artists' work with children.
5. Week  Museum education, preparation of museum education plan, implementation and evaluation
6. Week  Children's drawing development, examination of children's drawings
7. Week  Midterm
8. Week  Art education in early childhood program models (Montessori, Reggio, High Scope, Waldorf, Project)
9. Week  Factors affecting artistic expression of children, role of teacher in art education
10. Week  Material and environmental characteristics of the art education, methods and techniques of visual art education in Early Childhood
11. Week  Family involvement in art education, examining MEB (2013) aims and achievements supporting visual arts education for children between 36-72 months
12. Week  Planning, implementing and evaluating of the art activity in Early Childhood
