Programme Information
Gazi University's Teaching Children with Visual Impairments Programme is a national leader in preparing teachers of students with visual impairments in Turkey. Gazi University has one of the most comprehensive programs in the country and students who receive their professional development through the Department have the opportunity to learn and work closely with nationally and internationally renowned faculty. Since the 1984s, the Department has ranked among the top graduate programs for special education in the country. Over its 25 years history, the department has earned a reputation for excellence in two areas of study through originality of thought, the merging of theory with practice and commitment to excellence. Our innovative undergraduate degree program in Teaching Students with Visual Impairments prepares students to meet the challenge of addressing those children’s needs. Students in the program participate actively in area schools and collaborate on planning, assessment, and teaching teams. The Department of Teaching Children with Visual Impairments also offers undergraduate courses for teacher candidates from other departments pursuing licensure to teach students with special needs. Our faculty is committed to preparing educators who desire to help children reach their full potential and provide extensive support to inclusive education practices around the country by offering seminars, workshops, and trainings.
